Abstract submission is now open for the ISID Congress 2022. This is your opportunity to showcase your work – from clinical studies to basic translational science, case reports, and epidemiological studies to thousands of colleagues. Submit now until 15 August 2022!

Upcoming ESCMID Postgraduate Education Course

The course, “Paediatric infection management for the microbiologist, antimicrobial pharmacist, paediatrician and adult infectious diseases specialist” takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, 5 – 6 September 2022. Registration is closing soon on 4 August 2022, don’t miss this chance to join!

New call for Observership Centres

To facilitate international training and collaboration, the ESCMID AMS Certificate trainees are encouraged to visit Observership Centres in other countries as part of the programme, focusing on how AMS programmes work in practice. Details for application are on the ESCMID website.

Register for the 1st TAE/ESCMID Leadership Academy

Discount codes for LMICs and partner societies participants are now available for this course organized by TAE, aimed to address challenges/opportunities in CM and ID and develop crucial skills in leadership and management. Attendance grants also provided!

Travel grants available for upcoming postgraduate course

Travel grants are available to support up to 20 candidates from eligible CAESAR network countries (incl. registration, travel and accommodation). Interested candidates should submit a letter of motivation and an updated CV to eurosurveillance@who.int by 2 Sept 2022.

Recommendation for second booster of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines

In April 2022, ECDC and EMA recommended that people over 80 years of age be considered for a second booster. It might also be necessary to consider second boosters in people between 60 and 79 years old and vulnerable persons of any age if there was a resurgence of infections.

Infectious shedding of SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant

This study aimed to detect the duration of viral shedding among healthcare workers with omicron by using viral culture. The authors found that among the SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant infected patients, viral shedding continues for at least ten days in over 10% of all cases.
