ESCMID Conference on Corona Virus Disease (ECCVID) – Emerging threats, emerging solutions

CMI highlight: A multiple center clinical evaluation of an ultra-fast single-tube assay for SARS-CoV-2 RNA
In the present study authors report a multicentre clinical evaluation of a single-tube reverse transcription recombinase-aided amplification (RT-RAA) assay for SARS-CoV-2, through analysis of 947 clinical samples from five institutions in four regions of China. This RT-RAA kit was first launched on Jan 29, 2020 and passed the external quality assessment of National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention (IVDC), Chinese Center for disease control and prevention (CCDC) and Beijing CDC. Results obtained showed that, with comparable sensitivity and specificity to the commercial qRT-PCR kits, the RT-RAA assay for SARS-CoV-2 exhibited distinctive advantages of simplicity and rapidity in terms of operation and turn-around time.
