Open call to join the ESCMID Scientific Affairs Subcommittee

ESCMID is pleased to announce an open call for a member to join the Scientific Affairs Subcommittee within the theme of Epidemiology, Public Health and Vaccinology. This committee advises and provides guidance to the society, on strategic matters and members are expected to be experts in their fields.

The deadline to apply is October 20, 2021.

 

 

The ESCMID Awards nomination will close in three weeks!

You are still able to nominate your outstanding colleagues for the ESCMID Awards, including the Excellence, Young Investigator and Outstanding Trainee awards.

The call for 2022 ESCMID Awards will close on 12 October 2021, 17:00 CEST.

17th International Dengue Course – Havana, Cuba

The 17th International Dengue Course and other Arbovirus (in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic) is taking place online from 27 September until 1 October 2021. The online course is being hosted by Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology. Find out more and register on the course website.

Screening algorithm for the rapid identification of SARS-CoV-2 variants

The study evaluates a testing algorithm that includes PCR-based targeted Single Nucleotide Polymorphism detection assays preceded by a multiplex PCR. The algorithm seems to be a quick and robust add-on to WGS for mapping SARS-CoV-2 variants that can be easily tailored demonstrating its flexibility.
