ISPPD society launch and virtual webinar on Pneumococcus and COVID-19

The International Society of Pneumonia and Pneumococcal Diseases (ISPPD) is officially launching as a society, and will do so with a virtual webinar organised in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. 

The launch of the new ISPPD Society & Virtual Webinar on Pneumococcus & COVID-19 will take place on 30 June 2021 between 14:00-17:00 BST (15:00-18:00 CEST). The meeting will then be repeated on 1 July 2021 between 07:00-10:00 BST (08:00-11:00 CEST).

CMI highlight: SARS-COV-2 antibody dynamics and B-cell memory response over-time in COVID-19 convalescent subjects

Worldwide spread of COVID-19 disease highlights the need for assessment of long-term humoral immunity in convalescent subjects. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term IgG SARS-CoV-2 antibody response and B-cell memory response in COVID-19 convalescent subjects.

Blood samples were collected from a cohort of subjects recovering from COVID-19 disease and from healthy subjects that donated blood. 

The majority of COVID-19 convalescent subjects develop IgG SARS-COV-2 antibody response that prevails a protective level over a period of up to 9-months regardless of age, gender, major blood types or clinical symptomatology.
