The ESCMID Awards nomination period is now open!

You are now able to nominate your outstanding colleagues for the following prestigious ESCMID Awards

  • ESCMID Award for Excellence in CM and ID
  • ESCMID Young Investigator Award for Research in CM and ID
  • ESCMID TAE Outstanding Trainee Award in CM and ID

The call for 2022 ESCMID Awards will close on 12 October 2021, 17:00 CEST.

ESCMID Executive Committee Elections: Nominate now!

At the end of 2021, elections will be held among the membership to fill three (out of eight) positions in the ESCMID Executive Committee, one representing clinical microbiology and two infectious diseases.

ESCMID would like to encourage you to propose candidates by 31 August 2021 on the ESCMID website.

Public Consultation Phase open for new ESCMID Guidelines

Two more weeks to participate to the public consultation for the ‘ESCMID Guidelines for the treatment of infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli’. Check here for how to participate. The deadline to provide feedback and comments is 30 August 2021.

BioMed Alliance: Questionnaire IVDR for diagnostic laboratories

The BioMed Alliance would like to ask diagnostic laboratories in the EU to fill in a questionnaire on their current use of IVD tests and their preparations for the IVDR (the new EU regulation on in vitro diagnostic medical devices).

SARS-CoV-2 RNA loads in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients

A retrospective, single center study was conducted to address the issue of inconsistent results comparing SARS-CoV-2 RNA load in the upper respiratory tract between children and adults, either presenting with COVID-19 or asymptomatic. They found that infected children, with or without COVID-19, may display viral loads comparable to that found in adults.
