Calls for ESCMID awards are now open!

ESCMID awards acknowledge excellence and outstanding innovation by researchers, clinicians and other persons contributing to the progress of the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. These awardees are invited to give lectures at ECCMID and are eligible to become ESCMID Fellows. Calls to apply are now open and will close on 25 October 2023.

The European Clinical Research Alliance for Infectious Diseases - Ecraid - advances clinical research in the field of infectious diseases by establishing a long-term, financially self-sustainable clinical research network in Europe. The workshop will provide tools on how to phrase a research question; choose the appropriate design and methods to address it; avoid biases; and write an optimal report. We will focus on new developments in methods, with a special emphasis on clinical trials, and use the participants' projects as examples.

Prof. Deborah Williamson has been appointed as the new director of the Emerging Infections Subcommittee

We welcome Prof. Deborah Williamson as the new director of the ESCMID Emerging Infections Subcommittee.

Prof. Deborah Williamson is a clinical and public health microbiologist, and Director of Specialised Microbiology and Laboratories at the UK Health Security Agency. She was formerly Director of the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory and Professor of Public Health Microbiology at the Doherty Institute, University of Melbourne. She has published over 270 papers in areas such as genomics, diagnostics, and emerging infectious diseases. Her work across public health laboratories, academia and government has directly influenced the way microbiology is applied to clinical practice and public health, including responses to antimicrobial resistance and emerging infectious diseases.

Study Group Collaboration Grant is now open!

The Study Group Collaboration Grant is back again this year to support larger-scale, innovative research projects in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases organised by at least 3 ESCMID Study Groups collaborating together. The call to apply is now open and the deadline to submit applications will be 12 October 2023, 17:00 CET.
