Last week to apply: open call for new ESCMID Subcommittee members

There is one week left to apply to join two existing as well as two brand new ESCMID Subcommittees. We are accepting applications for:

• 6 members in the new AMR Action Subcommittee
• 8 members in the new Emerging Infections Subcommittee
• 3 members in the Professional Affairs Subcommittee
• 1 member in the Scientific Affairs Subcommittee

You can see the details of each role on the ESCMID website. ESCMID members who are qualified and interested are encouraged to review the positions and apply before the deadline of 21 November 2023.

The TAE Virtual Round Tables Session is back for a special New Year Edition

If you are a trainee or a young scientist in CM/ID, don't miss the chance to join the Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) Virtual Round Tables on 4 January 2024, 11:00 - 12:30 CET. You will have the unique opportunity to discuss in an informal set-up the specialised topic of your choice, helping you to get advice and inspiration for your career.

This course will provide an overview of the principles and fundamentals of FT-IR spectroscopy in Clinical Microbiology, as well as diverse applications including strain differentiation and typing and its potential value for outbreak management and pathogen surveillance.

Public consultation phase to endorse a new ESCMID Guideline

ESCMID members are invited to comment on the manuscript "2023 Guideline Update on the Diagnosis and Management of Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infections in Adults, Children, and Pregnant People". If you are interested in reviewing the manuscript, please write to guidancedocuments@escmid.org, indicating your ESCMID membership number.

The deadline to provide feedback and comments is 20 November 2023.

(Re)-discover our CAREer Grant: empowering members to overcome career hurdles amidst family care duties

The ESCMID CAREer Grant supports members who need aid to advance their scientific career whilst looking after their children, or suffering from an unexpected situation that prevents them from working full-time (illness, care of elderly parents, etc.).


Applications will open in one week, on 22 November 2023.
