Summer School Success!

The 20th ESCMID Summer School took place this past week and we had a fantastic time in Rome! We want to thank the 37 faculty and 78 participants who made each presentation and hands-on workshop engaging and informative. You can see the gallery of pictures taken over the week on the website now. 

Don’t worry if you missed this year, we are already getting ready for next year in Seville, Spain!

 

 

Upcoming ESCMID Postgraduate Education Course

Be sure to register for upcoming ESCMID education courses such as: “New applications in molecular microbiological diagnostics” taking place in Maastricht, Netherlands, 26-28/29 September 2022. Registration closes on 15 July 2022, so don’t delay!

Call for Study Group Research Funding closing

The call for Study Group Research Grants for 2022 is closing in one week on 19 July! ESCMID Study Groups are invited to submit their research proposals in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases for funding by ESCMID.

New call for Observership Centres

To facilitate international training and collaboration, the ESCMID AMS Certificate trainees are encouraged to visit Observership Centres in other countries for 2 weeks as part of the programme. The focus should be on how AMS programmes work in practice. More details are on the ESCMID website.

GARDP Webinar: 26 July 2022, 16:00-17:30 CEST

Register now for the next GARDP live webinar, ‘New approaches to antibiotic discovery’, taking place 26 July. Join James Collins and Richard Lee, who will discuss new approaches to antibiotic discovery, with a focus on synthetic biology as well as the need for collaboration.

Biomed Alliance-medical devices

The Biomedical Alliance in Europe, representing 36 medical and research societies,  calls on Member States to take action and prevent a potential shortage of medical devices. You can read the full press release here.

New public consultation announced by EMA

EMA presents a draft report on the development of a harmonised approach to exposure assessment methodologies for residues from veterinary medicinal products, feed additives and pesticides in food of animal origin.

Upcoming ESCMID Postgraduate Education Course!

The course, “Paediatric infection management for the microbiologist, infection specialist and antimicrobial pharmacist” takes place in Veyrier-du-Lac, France, 5 – 6 September 2022. Registration is now open, until 4 August 2022. 

Immunogenicity and safety of the 4CMenB vaccine

This study investigated the immunogenicity and safety of a 4CMenB recombinant vaccine in adult HCT recipients. The response rate for vaccine antigens and the safety data supports the 4CMenB vaccination of HCT recipients from 6 months after transplant with 2 doses.
