Nomination phase is open for the Executive Committee elections

At the end of 2023, elections will be held among the membership to fill two (out of eight) positions in the ESCMID Executive Committee, both representing clinical microbiology. In April 2024, Immediate Past-President Maurizio Sanguinetti (clinical microbiology position) and Treasurer and Financial Support Officer Alexander W. Friedrich (clinical microbiology position) will complete their terms on the ESCMID Executive Committee.

The Nomination Subcommittee would like to encourage you to propose candidates, taking into consideration their professional excellence, leadership abilities, communication skills and contributions to the activities of ESCMID.

A variant of E-11 Enterovirus linked to severe acute hepatitis and meningoencephalitis in newborns in France

A recent article reports a variant of E-11 Enterovirus being linked to nine severe cases of acute hepatitis in newborns in France. EITaF comments on the report highlight the importance of laboratory preparedness to outbreaks.

One week left to apply for Study Group Research Grants

This funding is exclusively available for official ESCMID Study Group research projects in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. ESCMID has over 30 Study Groups in different specialties within the fields of clinical microbiology. The call to apply for the Study Group Research Grants will officially close on 19 July 2023, 17:00 CEST.

Submit an abstract for a case to be presented at IDWeek Clinical Grand Round

We are accepting abstracts from ESCMID members for 2 cases to be presented at the Clinical Grand Round during IDWeek. Preference will be given to cases caused by non-bacterial organisms. Presenters need to be able to attend IDWeek: 11-15 October 2023 in Boston. Cases need to contain original data and should not be presented yet. Please send your case (1 A4 Page) to eccmidinfo@escmid.org until 14 July 2023.

Register for the Annual Meeting of EBJIS 2023

ESCMID members can profit from a registration discount at the 41st Annual Meeting of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society, that will take place in Basel, Switzerland on 12-14 October 2023. The conference will bring together experts, practitioners and companies involved in the treatment of bone and joint infections.
